Phlebotomy

Program Type: Non-Credit

Description: The Phlebotomy Technician program prepares students for entry-level employment in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, diagnostic laboratories, and blood collection facilities. The program provides instruction in the theory and practice of blood collection, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, specimen handling and processing, infection control, and safety procedures. Students also develop professional communication skills and customer service techniques needed to work effectively with patients and healthcare staff. Learning experiences combine classroom instruction, skills laboratory practice, and supervised clinical experience in an approved healthcare setting. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to seek national certification as a phlebotomy technician through a recognized credentialing agency.
