ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH (EKG) TECHNICIAN

Description: The Electrocardiograph Technician program prepares students to perform electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) procedures and support cardiac diagnostic services in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Students learn basic anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, medical terminology, patient preparation and care, correct lead placement, operation and maintenance of EKG equipment, and fundamental rhythm interpretation. Emphasizing accuracy, safety, and professional conduct, the program combines classroom instruction with hands-on lab practice and may include a clinical component. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles such as EKG technician, monitor technician, or cardiac monitoring assistant, and may be eligible to sit for a national EKG technician certification exam.
