Nurse Aide

Program Type: Non-Credit

Description: The Nurse Aide program prepares students for entry-level employment as nurse aides in long-term care facilities, assisted living centers, hospitals, and other healthcare settings. The program provides instruction in basic nursing and personal care skills, including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, positioning, and safe patient transfers. Students learn principles of infection control, safety and emergency procedures, communication and interpersonal skills, residents’ rights, and the emotional and social needs of older adults and other vulnerable populations. Learning experiences combine classroom instruction with supervised skills practice and clinical experience in an approved healthcare facility. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to seek placement on the state nurse aide registry and to pursue employment as a certified nurse aide, in accordance with applicable state requirements.
